Eagle 0r Chicken?

A modified story

A man found an eagle's egg and put it in his hens' nest. The eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them. He thought he was a chick and lived like the other chicks. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. He thrashed his wings and flew a few feet into the air.

Many years passed and the eagle grew old. One day he saw a magnificent, majestic bird flying above in the cloudless sky. The bird's moves were graceful and powerful. The eagle inquired, "Who is this?"

"An eagle, the king of all birds and of the skies," his neighbor replied.

Regretfully, the eagle lived and died a chicken, because that is what he thought he was.

My friend, look through the recesses of your mind and see what area of your life might you be living as a chicken when God has made you an eagle?

As you face the new year, 2018, may your prayer be, "Lord, you have made me an eagle to soar to higher heights. In many ways, I have lived or still live as a chicken oblivious of the greatness you have placed within me. Set me free to be the unique person you created me to be in Jesus' name. Amen.
